WHAT TO EXPECT
Pre-visit checklist
- Please complete the Phreesia prior to arrival. (Link will be sent via text and email)
- Bring a copy of your health insurance card.
- Bring a copy of your driver's license.
- Bring a copy of all the prescription medications you take.
- If you wear glasses or contact lenses, please bring them with you.
- Plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to your visit.
- If your insurance requires it, please obtain a referral or prior authorization prior to your visit.
Dilation
- Depending on what type of exam you are scheduled for you may or may not be dilated at the time of your visit.
- After dilation drops are applied, we have you wait 20-30 minutes for the full effect to occur prior to seeing the doctor.
- Eye dilation may make it more difficult to focus on near objects. Your eyes may be sensitive to light. These effects can last for 4-6 hours.
- We have disposable sunglasses if you forget to bring your own.
- Please bring a driver if you do not feel comfortable driving while dilated.
Ocular Testing
- Depending on your medical history and exam findings we may need to perform additional testing the day of to rule out or monitor specific disease(s).
- Patients signing up for cataract surgery will be asked to return on a different day to complete all necessary pre-operative testing.
Refraction
- A fee will be charged for any refraction prescription that is dispensed by our MDs as refraction is not covered by medical insurance.
- We do accept EyeMed and VSP vision insurance for visits with our optometrist.
