Glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness for people over 60 years old. Glaucoma is a disease that damages the optic nerve and causes vision loss. Usually, there is extra fluid in the front part of the eye which causes a high pressure in the eye. The high pressure is associated with damage to the optic nerve and subsequent vision loss. 

Vision loss tends to occur in the periphery so some glaucoma patients may not realize they are losing this vision. Glaucoma causes permanent vision loss, therefore it is important to diagnose and treat early!
